Jonathan Rhys Meyers Released from Hospital

JULY 1, 2011Tudors lead star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was rushed to hospital after paramedics found him slumped on the floor at his London home. Meyers, 33, is believed to have swallowed pills in a suspected suicide attempt, UK's The Sun reports.

The Irish-born actor, who has starred in films such as Bend It Like Beckham and Woody Allen's Match Point, refused treatment from paramedics for more than half an hour until they called police.

A source told the newspaper that those at the scene thought Meyers "had tried to take his life", however TMZ claimed a source said he had just had a "relapse".

Meyers has a long history of substance abuse and had checked into a top class rehabilitation centre in South Africa earlier this month — his fifth stint in rehab.

JULY 2 UPDATE: Meyers has been released from hospital and a source said he has agreed to go for rehab for his drinking problem. He reportedly denied that the incident was a suicide attempt.
