Bruno Banned In Malaysia

SEPT 30, 2009 - It is official! Bernama has announced that the National Film Censorship Board has banned British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s raunchy comedy Bruno for being “oppressive to the cultural values of Malaysia.”

According to a statement from the Home Ministry, the film -- which stars Cohen as a gay Austrian fashionista -- contained sexually explicit scenes, vulgar language and nudity.

“The movie has also clearly infringed the sensitivity and beliefs of Christians by belittling the religion,” said the statement.

The statement added that the local distributor of the movie, Golden Screen Cinemas, was informed of the decision and reasons for the ban through a letter dated Aug 6.

This is one of the few times that I agree with our censors. Bruno is totally unfunny and it sucks big time (reviewed below).
